feelings is the next single to be released ahead of tim deluxes highly anticipated lp the radicle, a deep and jazzy cut which includes two distinct versions. with its deep jazzy reprise and classic french house-influenced tone, the club edit pairs a shuffling groove with freeform trumpet courtesy of renowned instrumentalist jay phelps with whom tim has worked extensively. the ice cream dub throws back to tim’s garage-roots, with the name directly referencing the highly influential record label he founded back in the 90s. tim skilfully blends the techniques of his heritage with the more modern, garage-influenced house sounds, creating a bubbling, low-end monster.

i first heard of julixo when i put my hands on his fantastic ep called silas released on rauh 005. after that, i kept a close eye on the sounds he was posting, and when i heard rebho, i knew we were going to do something together. the warm synth line, together with the jackin drum patterns, were perfect. then came reflections, which fitted superbly with rebho. although slower, and maybe more introspective, you still have that warm feeling going through the track. we decided to go with life of crime on the other side of the record. much more aggressive in its construction, that track deserved a side on its own: modern techno at its best. i hope you will enjoy this nice versatile release as much as i do! best regards, philippe petit

altzmusica brand-new release a white color 12 vinyl by keta ra, a japanese naturalist, musician & guitarist, including remixes by calm & altz. keta ra has ever released 2 albums, album from aiueo records including remixes by altz & yakenohara, and rinth from wood frame, a unique label in osaka. track 1 on the a side sounds like water is flowing and the guitars & groove are gradually throbbing. track 2 is a remix by altz, in which he has created a visional space, a magical sound world rousing imaginary music. on the b side is a house remix by calm. it is a synthesizer work and a modern balearic trance track that has sublimed paradisiacal, positive euphoria in the powerful dance groove.

the second release we do with french artists upwellings aka vincent raude who is professor of modern art at the academy of brest and has been recording music since 1996. his ep comprised two tracks. a-side >dubbin at the strobe< feat. michael zerang shows a nice interaction of drums and sounds developing a profound deep mood. drum parts were recorded in chicago by michael zerang, a real jazz legend who played a lot with peter brötzmann and joe mcphee, hamid drake. the flip side >lighthouse dub< has the aura of an place which is extremely isolated. the sound is at times extremely pulled back and melancholic and holds a sentiment that reminds us a bit of joy divisions >we are the young men<. the track undergoes a transformation beatwise when going more uptempo.

last year s disco (a fine selection of independent disco, modern soul & boogie 1978-82) compilation from soul jazz offered undeniable proof that few diggers deserve their reputation as much as dutch discotheque scholar disco patrick. given the reception, it s no surprise to see that the london label have commissioned patrick to undertake a second assessment of the genre s lesser known gems with the focus here on the years 1976-80. the first of two double lp vinyl samplers to accompany the full cd release finds pat pulling out gems like the extremely pricey skip jackson curio micro wave boogie and t.k. disco treat cosmic funk by mad dog fire department.

after waiting 3 long years, and finally getting the multi track session to do a b side, im proud to present the star blazers cover version of the masterpiece danger zone which was originally done my midnight express. many should be familiar with detroit producer recloose, while back in new zealand he assembled a band who called them selves star blazers (an ode to the 70s legendary japanimation series and a big hit on bostons tv38.. indeed recloose is from massachusetts) and they recorded a few cover tunes.upon hearing this i knew it was special. while most modern covers miss the mark, purely emulating and sounding like a cheap imitation, leaving me wanting to just play the original. they flip the tempo, swing and vibe, straight up owning this and making it their own.

claudio coccoluto is going back to print with the dub records and this is release no.2! after spending over a decade in hibernation the claudio coccoluto’s record label the dub comes back to life with a new disco tinged offering from the label boss himself and sets the tone for a full schedule ahead. claudio coccoluto is one of italy’s most famous musical sons, a dj, producer, radio and tv show host and music writer. he plays all over the world at clubs and festivals as well as for brands like mtv and peroni. using everything from the vintage sounds of chicago and detroit to the ultra-modern music coming out of europe and everything else he hears around the world, claudio coccoluto is never afraid of experimenting with pioneering sounds and allowing others to be influenced by his never ending search for the next record.

over 10.000 years ago, after the last ice age, humans began to explore and settle the place now known as scotland. evidence of our ancestors can be found in the various rock carvings, standing stones, tombs and dwellings still scattered throughout the lands today. modern archaeological techniques can offer ever more detailed suggestions as to what these monuments might have meant, but it is still largely left to our imaginations to discern just what these spaces were used for.

the g man hits the planet rhythm imprint (finally) with a slice of infectious dancefloor material. binkys groove ep revolves around tough house/techno jams with an attitude. from the gritty almost dancehallish rhythms in ms retrograde to the anthemous bassline sounds in binkys groove and the very uk sounding g vibe on dis-tracted! mr.g has delivered a modern day prruk classic.

up next on made of concrete is gathaspar with his gathsoland ep. with straight sounds and dark beats, gathaspar takes it down to the realm of shades. after the vocal heavy intro of gathsoland the subkick abducts you into areas of unknown soundscapes. through the stormy pads of the vision in cooperation with echologist the ep is brought down to a round figure by the combination of traditional elements of techno and modern interfaces in the last track the lover of ursa major.

from the tropics comes whiskey disco, a sneaky re-edit label bent on dredging the decanter for diffident dancefloor genius from latent disco perpetrators. it is loosely connected to sleazy mcqueen and his assorted cohorts.
summer of my life joins newcomer and alumnus, closed paradise and b.g. baarregaard. the title is a cheeky reference that sidesteps youthful sentiment with a nod towards middle age. b.g. establishes the mood with his impeccable balance of sample and synthesis with the loopy, upbeat astarjatning and the carefree, balearic astargardurinn. closed paradise produces original disco with sheer panache weaving sample and groove with slight melancholic tones across breakin down and wolf sisters. whiskey disco #40 exemplifies our roots and future, a constant evolution of modern disco and vintage edits.

founded in september 1981 in orléans, and originally dedicated to a kind of ‘modern punk rock’, d.stop released a first 7’’ the following year. this impossible-to-find debut release is now reissued on vinyl for the first time. the three tracks of the original 7’’ are augmented with 4 tracks that are released on vinyl for the first time ever on this very nice translucent vinyl 10’’ plus download code. after this first 7”, sonny brailleur (vocals) + phil lethon (guitar/bass) + klod lelook (organ, synths, drum-machines) , inspired by french band metal urbain, stylistically transformed into a more ‘synth punk’ kind of outfit and released their first mini-album nouvelles du front in september 1983 that has been reissued by desire on vinyl last september. one year after, the band already ceased to exist – or actually changed the name to les visiteurs du soir – to turn back to the old name in 1985 by releasing a limited cassette. despite the very few releases by this gifted act, d.stop are considered to be one of the most interesting and under-rated cult acts in french cold wave.

alex cortex with 2 fresh techno cuts. adventurous and slowly building trippy nervous modern tracks with almost an avantgardish cinematic feel. accompanied by strong remixed versions of florian kupfer and perseus traxx

for the third whole truth ep, the nameless producer is joined by la vocal duo lucid paradise, comprised of ishtar and e. da boss (the latter is best known as the deep-voiced half of stones throws myron & e). on *party down* extends the direction of the tom noble mix of myron & e s *do it disco*, bringing beautiful modern soul vocal stylings to a limber groove that could have graced west end records in 81. the pair also duet on *who s taking all the love?*, while the whole truth flexes his dub muscles and drops some deeply burnt chords. this ep follows releases on the whole truths self-titled label in collaboration with uk dub legend erroll bellot and anglo-mauritian producer, singer and vocalist mo kolours, which found favour with the likes of optimos jd twitch and mary-anne hobbs (bbc 6 music).

polish resident lutto lento follows up his debut 12inch for charles drakefords ftd label with this 6 track ep whips for where to now? records. luttos sound places him as quite a unique figure in modern electronic music, showing a fearless work ethic in shrouding his productions in saturated tape loops, and achieving what is certainly a low-fi quality to his sound, lutto manages to never let this lo-fi edge take centre stage, instead this expertly crafted process of tape cutting and looping provides the backdrop to luttos exuberantly crafted yet absolutely dance floor orientated drum work.

the head of grounded theory berlin returns to sonic groove with his strongest outing on the label to date. henning baer brings forth a rough and tough diverse four cut ep of chunky rhythmatic techno. recording the songs during live jams and using a previously decided pool of hardware this ep has a nice old school vibe. the sound production however is very much in the modern day with its well crafted mix downs. this release has strong mass appeal for the purist techno connoisseur.
